Robb Cabin

Originally located eight miles northwest of Kinmundy, the Robb Cabin was home to Francis McKendrie “F.M.” Robb, his wife Julia Melissa Lowe Robb, and their growing family during the late 1800s.

History of the Robb Cabin

The Robb Cabin was originally located eight miles northwest of Kinmundy. It was home to Francis McKendrie “F.M.” Robb, who lived from 1847 to 1934, and Julia Melissa Lowe Robb, who lived from 1847 to 1925.

F.M. and Julia were married on January 31, 1867. They lived in the cabin with their first six children: Harriet Elzora, known as Hat; Margaret Rosella, known as Dell; Martha Pamelia; an infant child who died at ten days old; Mary Agnes, known as Ag; and Emma Ann.

Harriet later married Leroy Green and, following his death, married Joe Arnold. Margaret married Charles I. Doolen. Mary married Emmit Jones, and Emma married Guy Arnold.

The Robb family later continued to grow. Lula Belle married Frank Jones, Samuel Eli married Josie Balance, and Ella Elizabeth died in infancy.

The cabin is preserved at Kinmundy Log Cabin Village as a reminder of the Robb family and the large households that were common in rural Illinois during the 19th century.
